Turkey and ham at Gracehill

In Division One Richard ‘Wossie’ Stinson went one better this week and bagged a turkey to go with the ham he has already won.

Special congratulations to Wossie for being the first winter grand slam winner of the turkey/ham combo. Playing off seven ‘Wossie’ achieved an outstanding 42 points with 14 pars and a couple of birdies, is there no end to his form and fortune? In second place was nine handicapper Johnny Munnis with 40 points.

Johnny played the last four holes in one under par which was just enough to hold off Cecil Linton (14) who also had 40 points. In Division Two Steven Tweed, playing off 15, showed a return to form with 41 points. After a slow start Steven got his back nine off to a fast start with a birdie at the difficult par four tenth and with three pars to finish it was just enough to relegate Mervyn McKeeman (15), who also had 41 points into second spot.

Mervyn’s good play resulted in a ham so another good week and Christmas dinner will be sorted! Third place went to Wallace McKeeman (15) with 38 points. Steven Bell produced an excellent round of level par 72 to secure the gross prize.

On Sunday Ben Napper, playing off five, continued his good form with a tremendous 40 points. With thirteen pars and a couple of birdies consistency and homogeny were the characteristics of his round. Runner-up for the second competition in succession with 40points was Johnny Munnis, from his newly acquired eight handicap.

Johnny just missed out on the turkey/ham grand slam of golf. Eoin Sayers, playing off 14, secured third place with 39 points. Ian Morrison put another steady round of golf together and picked up the gross with a two over par 74. That’s two in seven days for Ian.
