Young and Marshall come up trumps at Roe Park

THE Trustees Cup was contested on Thursday and Saturday at Roe Park under a fourball betterball format, with the pairings receiving three quarters of their individual handicaps.

The high and low handicap pairing of Andy Young and Gary Marshall played on the Thursday and cruised around amassing an impressive 47 points.

James Lapsley and Jonathan Allen 46 were narrowly pipped into second place by a single point whilst the break of tie was required to separate them from Alan Rankin and Tex Nicholl who also recorded a 46.

Every shot will count next weekend as the monthly medal will take place on the Saturday, with ordinary stablefords taking place on the Thursday and Sunday.

In the Ladies competition Rachael Corbett (18) nett 67 won on count back, second was Marie McGuigan (15) nett 67 and Estelle Rose (16) with nett 68 was third. The July Medal was sponsored by Michael McGregor of Ideal Carpets.

The Junior Cup side captained by Carol McAlistor played at the Hilton Golf Club against Spa and lost 3 matches to 1.5 matches, but it's well done to the Junior Cup Team for getting to the quarter-finals as it was their first time playing in this tournament, the standard of play was excellent.
