Hustlers’ title hopes suffer setback with defeat at Towers

Fairhill Hustlers’ Ballymena Towers Pool League title aspirations suffered a jolt with a defeat at Towers Tavern last week.

With defending champions Minnesota Inbetweeners’ game at Social Club postponed, Hustlers missed an opportunity to pull clear at the top after they lost at the Ballee venue.

Fairhill Rockets 3, Moat B 3: Alastair Lowry got the home team off to a great start with a win in straight frames against Daniel Magill. William Wilson levelled the match with a 2-0 win over Stephen Worthington. Aaron Browne then put the Moat into the lead for the first time with a come from behind 2-1 win over Barry Kernohan. Ian Dewar made the match score 2-2 with a win in straight frames over Dean Robinson. Adele Robinson then put the Moat ahead again with a 2-0 win over Gary Allen. In the final game Nigel McMaster salvaged a draw for Fairhill with a 2-0 win over Simon Kennedy. POM - Adele Rutherford

Coach 0, Connolly’s 6: This was a one sided game with Connolly’s only dropping one frame. Ryan Foster and Ian Boal set Connolly’s on their way with 2-0 wins over David Carlisle and Malcolm Graffin.

The next two games both went the same way with 8ball clearances in the opening frames by Gary Clarke and Alan Davidson who beat Frazer Young and Darren Gilmore both in straight frames. Dee Irwin had a 2-1 win over Robert Artt and in the final game Pat McAnally completed the whitewash when he beat Chris Gordon 2-0. POM - Gary Clarke.

Towers Tavern 4, Fairhill Hustlers 2: George McCullough got Fairhill off to a great start with a 2-0 win over Dean Greer. K.D.Crabbe levelled the match for the Towers with a 2-1 win over Sean Brannigan. Drew Sloan put the Towers 2-1 up in the match with a win in straight frames over Richard Campbell.

Glenn Mairs levelled the match with a 2-1 win over David Millar and Glenn had lost the first frame. Towers then took the lead again with a come from behind 2-1 win for Shane Moody over Rab Graham. In the final game James Millar had a 2-1 win over Ritchie Irwin. POM - James Millar.
