Kildress GAA notes

THE U16 boys didn’t have much luck in the championship final on Saturday when they were narrowly beaten by Pomeroy with a result of 1-11 to 1-9. Well done to the boys on their efforts throughout the year and thanks to the management team of Sean McCrory, Mickey John Loughran and Sean Treacy for taking the lads.

The U13 boys play in the league semi final next weekend, the opposition, date and time of the match has yet to be confirmed, please check our facebook site for details.

The Scór na n Óg is fast approaching. If you’re interested in participating please come forward and let us know. Leave a message on Facebook or speak to anyone in the club.

With most youth football wrapped up we would like to extend a huge amount of appreciation to the coaches and mentors who took both the girls and boys throughout the season. Without their volunteerism Kildress Wolfe Tones wouldn’t be possible. We hope to see old and new faces next year when it all starts over again.

The Reserves travelled to Pomeroy on Sunday to take on Gortin in the Intermediate Championship Final. A tense encounter was watched by an array of loyal fans in poor conditions. The lads battled hard in the first half but went in at the break 0-5 to 0-4 down. The lads were strong in the second half and when with only a few minutes to go Kildress took the lead by a single point and Gortin were reduced to 14 men it seemed victory was ours, until an equalising point with the last kick of the game saw Gortin snatch a late draw. The replay details are yet to be announced, so check Facebook for updates.

The Senior team will take on Galbally in the Intermediate Championship final this Sunday in Healy Park at 4pm. A victory over Galbally will propel the Tones in to the promotion playoff game with a renewed sense of confidence and energy. Please come and give your support to the men this Sunday.

Tickets are now on sale for the eagerly anticipated ‘Fight Night’ in November. For more information log onto Facebook or check our website.

The Poker Classic has been postponed until after the Championship final.
