Ladies night at Lisburn club

THE Lady Captain Mrs Janice Wallace welcomed members and friends to a recent Ladies Night at the club.

Amongst the attractions on offer were paintings, handmade candles, Miglio jewellry, Benefit makeup, manicures and Christmas cards.

A ballot was held in aid of the Children’s Hospice and raised a terrific total of £454.

Meanwhile on the Golf course there have been some great results despite some pretty damp autumn weather.

The Past Captains competed for the Evelyn Boyd Salver with Mrs Joan Gough coming out on top with 36 points.

More recently in the Seniors Open Competition the honours went to Mrs Margaret McDonagh who carded a superb 43 points!.

The weekly nine-hole winter competitions have, as always, been hotly contested with a secondary handicap system introduced this year in an effort to ensure variety amongst the prize winners.

The winners so far; Joy Hall, Maureen Bryson, Daphne Houston, Margaret Jamieson, Joan Gough, Hazel Brown, Ida Ross, Maeve Markey, Freda Douglas, Hilary Bradley and Claire Warwick.

The Winter League team event is themed this year on Nursery Rhymes and is a source of great fun and cameraderie amongst the ladies.

This year after the first four rounds played during October and November, the top spot is held by Team Wee Willie Winkie, with Old MacDonald in close pursuit and coming up in third spot Little Bo-Peep.

It’s still all to play for with a further four rounds to be played over the next three months.

The team participants are reminded that the Grand Finale Dinner will be held on Friday March 8 and fancy dress is a must!
