Loughanreagh pick up another victory

NORTH West league champions Loughanreagh made it two wins from two last week but they were made to work all the way by a determined Boveedy side.

In the end the Windyhall side edged home by three shots picking up five points in the process.

Ronnie Catherwood got Boveedy off to a good start with a three shot win over Alan Irwin. But it was short-lived as Ian Ross gave the hosts the lead at the interval with a six shot win over Alan Catherwood.

Nigel Gamble raised the visitors hopes again after the break as he saw off Edwin Irwin by 14 shots. But Alastair Steele matched his efforts against Dougie Morrow to secure the win.

The Marian also picked up their second win in succession as they saw off Ballinrees by 12 shots earning themselves 5.5 points.

They won both games in the first half thanks to James Martin jnr who beat Victor Millen by 10 and James Martin snr who beat Uel Gordon by seven.

In the second half Jonathon Calvin hit back for Ballinrees beating Terence McGarry by five shots before the game between Edward Jamieson and Brian McAlary finished all square.

Dunluce picked up their first win of the season at home to Second Kilrea. It was comprehensive in the end at they secured a 19-shot victory which earned them five points.

Uel McKeeman got the Bush lads off to a flying start with a 19-shot win over Margaret Johnston. Nicky McCaw hit back beating Harry Elliott by two.

William McCaughern picked up a second point for the visitors beating Alastair McIntyre by three, but Alastair Kilpatrick sealed the win for the hosts with a five shot win over Alan Paul.

Newly promoted St Mary's also picked up their first win of the new campaign as they travelled to Moneydig and returned with six points thanks to a 13-shot win.

Trevor Workman picked up the home side's solitary point in the first half thanks to his four shot win over Tony O'Kane before Harold Kelly put St Mary's in the driving seat with an eight shot win over Brian McFetridge.

After the break John Campbell edged out Willie Knight by a single shot before Declan McCann beat Torrance McFetridge by eight shots.

Meanwhile, Montra lead the way in Division Two despite going down by 19 shots at First Coleraine.

Clifford McLernon had a good eight shot win over Peter Whittaker before Bryan Shaw went one better beating Adrian Creighton by nine.

Colin Hutchinson added another four shots to their total with victory over Liam McNicholl before Paul Donnelly picked up a point for the visitors as he beat Jim Campbell by two.

New Row picked up their first win of the season with a three shot victory over Killowen earning five points in the process.

Killowen won both games in the first half as Samuel Connor jnr beat Robin Humphries by three and Billy Boyce got the better of Gary Lyttle by a single shot.

But New Row hit back after the break as Tommy Moffatt saw off Sam McArthur by three and Jonathon Elder beat Willie McKay by four shots.

Castlerock got their season off to a winning start thanks to their 12-shot win over Garvagh & District.Brian Wilson had a good battle with Eileen McCaffrey before winning by two and and Gary Gaile had a very good 10-shot win over David Workman.

In the second half Victor Callaghan had to pull out the stops to beat Ken McLenaghan by two before Adrian White grabbed a point for the hosts as he beat Ronnie Steele by the same margin.
