SPERRIN Harriers had athletes competing at six races at the weekend - Maghery 10k, Dungiven 10K, Downhill 5 Mile, Craigavon 5K,Moneymore 10K and Dunamore five miles with runners finishing in the top three at each venue.

Only two Sperrin athletes made the trip to Dungiven for there annual 10k race. There were over 100 at the start when the hooter went and with the first mile being downhill it was going to be a fast one.

Sperrin’s Christopher McPeake hit the front straight away with clubmate Diarmuid O’Kane hot on his heels with Matt Wray Ballymena & Antrim and Niall Brown just behind them. As they came down the hill to the finishing line it was Christopher that crossed first in a time of 34-50, with Matt 2nd in 35-20, Niall was 3rd in 35-59. With Matt taking 1st in the vet’s, Diarmuid moved up to 3rd overall in the senior in 37min well done Harriers

Karen Alexander was the First lady and also the first Harrier home in the Maghery 10k road race

Karen was having her best 10k race for a long time and battled hard to run a great time of 38-02. The next harrier to cross the line was Gary McGuckin in a time of 43min with Adrian Convie next.

Donal Gallagher continued his comeback to racing when he headed to Craigavon again for his third 5K Park Run race in three weeks and again was the first athlete to cross the line when he won in a time of 16-58. Well done Donal hope the recovery keeps going well.

Glenn Donnelly who was having his first race since injury that has kept him out for a long time and he couldn’t have picked a tougher race than the Downhill Demense & Mussenden Temple 5 mile trail race.

While there is great scenery I think that was the last thing on Glenn’s mind when he ran a great race to finish 3rd in a time off 34-16 behind top trail runner’s Allen Bogle 1st 33-16 and 2nd Paul Blaney 33-24 great run Glenn.

Thirteen Sperrin athletes made there way to Moneymore for the first running of there 10k road race on a very tough hilly course Christopher McPeake having his 2nd race in 24 hours ran a great race to Finish behind N.B.H. athlete Conor Curran 34-45 with Chris finishing in 35-46 with Jonathon McCloy 3rd 36min with Sperrin Harriers Aaron Meharg 4th in a Pb of 36-28.
