Eagles volunteers gain qualifications

The Eagles Special Olympics Club was back in training on Thursday last after the Halloween break and it was great to see all the athletes back and looking so enthusiatic.

In the interim period however our attention turns to the Volunteers at Eagles as they attended the First Aid Course organised by Special Olympics Ulster and the Eagles Club. The course was open to registered family members and club volunteers and the Eagles SO Club were very proud to announce a total of 11 participants from the fledgling club. The course was held at Primate Dixon Primary school Coalisland and our thanks goes to Anne Mitchell and Martin Kelly as always for their help in facilitating the course.

Those who achieved the necessary points in First Aid are Paul Sweeney, Briege Coyle, Nicola McCrory, Gerard Quinn, Danny O Hagan, Rohan McShane and Declan McShane. Also Joanne Sweeney, Jackie O Hagan,Emer Loughran and Barry Mulgrew. Well done to all those who took part and gained a valuable qualification in the advancement of Eagles SO Club. Thanks also to First Aid tutor Richard Shannon from NI Ambulance and Rescue Service.

The Eagles also held another very successful quiz night on the Friday night prior to the First Aid Course with a large number of teams coming out to support the local club. In the end it was “We Thought It Was A Disco” who carried off the winners prize with “Shating” in second and current title holders “Cunning Stunts” only third this time around. Well done to all for coming along and taking part and helping raise funds for the Eagles. Thank you to sponsors of prizes and those who made donations.

Training continues every Thursday night from 7-9pm at Primate Dixon Primary School but the club must stress should athletes be interested in joining they must contact club committee or members beforehand as the space is limited.
