COOKSTOWN duo Colin Hogg and Mark Wilson are the 2011 Irish Bowling Association Pairs Champions. Last Saturday in Carrickfergus they overcame strong opposition to secure the prestigious title.
They had qualified for the Irish Championships by winning the Provincial Association title back in July. In the semi-final Colin and Mark played excellent bowls to defeat Tommy Rainey and Neil Booth from Old Bleach, Randalstown 25 - 13.
In the semi-final they came up against Irish Internationals Marty McHugh and Barry Browne from Whitehead. After the game was tied at 19 all after the allocated 21 ends, an extra end had to be played. Mark drew a perfect shot under pressure with his last bowl to win and commence the celebrations.
Colin and Mark will now represent Ireland in the British Isles Championships in Wales next July.
