Cookstown starlet Kerri Scott made it three-in-a-row when she picked up the Irish Girls Doubles Badminton title alongside Dubliner Kate Frost last weekend.

Since the start of 2013, the pair have won the Leinster Open in Dublin, and then the Connaught Open in Sligo. Last weekend in the National Badminton Centre Lisburn, Kerri and her partner took on the rest of Ireland for the much sought after title of Irish National Junior Champions.

Their first round saw them get into their stride with a two set victory over a weaker Ulster pair by 21/12 and 21/14. They had two more similar matches but dispatched them with ease.

The quarter-finals saw their toughest match playing against Ulster’s Caitlin Steel and Wicklow’s Cloghda Dunn whom they had defeated in their last two finals. This match should have been the final with the match running right to the wire before Kerri and Kate stepped up when it mattered, scoring the vital points 21/18 and 21/17, to win.

The semi final saw them play Donegal’s top pair, McNulty and Moore, but they were no match loosing 21/10 and 21/11.

The final went the same way by 21/10 and 21/15 with Scott and Frost defeating Lisburn’s Rachel Woods and Limerick’s Moya Ryan.

Just to show their sheer dominance they had beaten all in front of them not dropping a single set throughout the tournament infect they had not dropped a single set in 2013.

The Cookstown girl has also featured this season in England for Ulster playing in the UK team challenge. Kerri has a very busy schedule ahead of her as next weekend she goes to Galway for the Irish Senior Club Champion to play for her team Lisburn Alpha.

She will be playing alongside senior Internationals Tony Stephenson and Sinead Chambers. In May, Kerri heads off to Glasgow to play for Alpha in the Yonnex World youth Championship. She will be playing against many of the best U15 players from around the world.

On top of all the club play Kerri is training with the Irish U15 Team for up and coming Internationals against England, Scotland and Wales.

Kerri would like to take this opportunity to thank Cookstown District Council for all of their continued support and knowing they are behind her is a great help.
