A PERFECT evening when the water was low, resulted in an enjoyable Glenview Perpetual Cup competition for members of Moyola Angling Club.Conditions here should really have favoured the fly anglers as trout were showing in great numbers throughout the Moyola River.
However, once again, the bait men pulled it off with Barry Diamond and Philip Maguire finishing as joint winners. In second place was Patsy Harkin while third went to Stanley Aspinall. Both used fly. It was good to see two lady anglers take part, namely Tanya Steele and new member Ruth Arrell.
As a result, the leader board is changing all the time.Out in front on 43pts is Barry Diamond.Philip Maguire moves into 2nd place with 40pts, Tommy McGrath has 35pts, Patsy Harkin 34pts, and Brian Bigmore, 32pts.
A big thanks goes to all those who helped organise the event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the club. An excellent barbecue was evident and it was great to see many families, friends and members in attendance. Gratitude to the committee of Moyola Park Football Club for looking after everyone so well on the evening. Members may like to note that there is an open competition being held at Lough Fea this Saturday, June 9.Also, the Moyola and Mid Ulster Angling Clubs are holding their annual Charis Charity Open on Saturday, June 23, again at Lough Fea.Both these competitions start at 2pm and will finish 6pm.
