THE London Marathon took place on Sunday, with nine Sperrin Harriers members making the weekend trip to the event.
The last few months of hard work surely paid off once everyone was on the course and passing landmarks like the Millennium Dome, Tower Bridge and Big Ben, to name but a few.
With weather conditions near perfect, and much warmer than NI, the team reported that getting used to running in the warmer temperatures was a challenge, as all training had taken place in either cold or mild conditions.
Nevertheless, everyone made it to the finish, and it was Aidan O’Hagan who ran a tremendous race and broke the 3 hour barrier with a finishing time of 2.53, next was Dermot McElhinney in 3.14, followed by Paul McLaughlin in 3.27. Raymond (Sun Tan) Tomb had a great run in 3.32, closely followed by Gary Coleman 3.36 and Gary Ward 3.37. The final 3 Harriers to cross the line were Martin Donaghy 3.44, Paul (Doc) Martin 3.47 and Darren Warnock in 3.55. Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part!
Well done to Eoin Loughlin who took part in the Beragh 10k and finished in 10th place in a time of 41.23.

Inishowen Half Marathon
Martin McGirr and Gary McGuckin made the trip to Buncrana in Co Donegal on Sunday morning for the Inishowen Half Marathon. Conditions shortly into the race were storm like, with rain and hail coming in from the Atlantic, on top of this a testing course with quite a few hills was in front of them. Regardless of the conditions Martin completed the course in 1.36, with Gary not far behind in 1.39.
