Rainey face Ulster rivals Banbridge

RAINEY Old Boys host Ulster rivals Banbridge this weekend at Hatrick Park in the All Ireland League.

It is set to be a ferocious encounter as both sides are in the upper echelons of the table and both with a point to prove.

Rainey defeated Banbridge earlier on in the season in the Ulster Senior League. However, the Rifle Park outfit recovered from this setback to seal a place in the final against Ballymena. Coach Chris Campbell admitted that there was a lot at stake in this Ulster derby.

“To be honest there is very little between the two sides and we enjoyed a good win over them earlier on in the season. However, they have built up a bit of momentum through their Senior Cup run and we are expecting a stern test on Saturday.”

Banbridge are currently six points behind Rainey and a victory on Saturday would close the gap between them and the top two. However, a Rainey victory would put a major dent in any hopes Banbridge have in promotion and leave Rainey in an excellent position prior to Christmas.

“It will be a big test on Saturday and we are looking forward to it.”
