Simpson and Taggart named golfers of the year at Aughnacloy

A recent dinner and social evening was held lately at Aughnacloy Golf Club marking the end of another very successful season.

After a delicious meal served up by Sidney Houston and his staff the prize giving took place.

Winning both the singles competition and Lady Golfer of the Year Trophy was Wendy Taggart. Wendy has had a great year of golf and reduced her handicap down to 14.

Mixed doubles winners, husband and wife team Damian and Jane-Marie Trainer, battled through various rounds to lift the prestigious trophy presented to them by David Trimble.

Father and daughter team of Hugh and Amy Williamson were runners-up in this competition. The gents main competitions of the year saw some hard fought rounds of golf being played. Doubles winners were Derek McClements and Stevie Simpson with the singles competition being won by Raymond Forbes with up and coming new golfer Simon Gilkinson in second place.

The prestigious Golfer of the Year trophy went to popular winner Stevie Simpson, who has had a very successful year. The evening finish with a dance at which a very enjoyable time was had by all in attendance.

Forthcoming events for January 2013 - The Golf Club are holding a Musical Extravaganza on the 18th January at Aughnacloy College tickets available from Sidney at the Club. There will also be dancing classes at the Club commencing on the 10th January at 8pm.
