The biggest date in the Harriers’ calendar, The Annual Awards Night, was hosted in the Greenvale Hotel Cookstown and what a night this was from start to finish.
With a crowd of Harriers all suited, booted and glammed till the nines all trainers were left at home and the dancing shoes were on. After a lovely meal it was time for the speeches and presentation of awards, the first award of the evening was the international award which goes to members who have competed at an international level and of course these awards went to no other than our two finest who have done us proud repersenting N.I. at the cross country championships and that was, Irwin Speirs (aka the legend) and Donal Gallagher.
The second award of the night was one voted by the club members on who they feel has contributed in helping and encouraging members and this was the ‘Members Member Award’ which went very deservingly to the one and only Coach Sean Donnelly for all his hard work and dedication, next up was an award which is decided by the club chairman Francis Purvis and this is the ‘Club member Award’ this award is based on a member who made an outstanding achievement in their running and of course there could only be one person for this and that was Mr. Darren Warnock on his successful year of running all across the country and beyond and his collection of medals and PBs to go with it.
This year saw the first awards which gave members the chance to compete in 2 five mile races and 2 Half Marthons which would go to those with the fastest times.
