DUNGANNON snooker ace Patrick Wallace heads the list of entries in this year’s St Patrick’s Cup competition due to be held in St Patrick’s Snooker Club, Magherafelt, over the next two Sundays.

A host of top players will descend upon the South Derry Club to try and claim the St Patrick’s cup from last year’s champion Paul Lenfesty. The St Patrick’s Club boasts the best snooker facilities in the country and the players are sure to thrive in such a great snooker environment. It is hoped the attraction of such star names will lead to this competition being one of the most sought after competitions in the Northern Ireland snooker calendar.

The opening Sunday will see the likes of Jordan Brown, CJ Anderson and Raymond Fry amongst the favourites to progress. Brown has just come off the professional tour and Anderson is currently holding the number one position in the Northern Ireland rankings. Fry is the holder of the highest break from last year, a magnificent 142 break so the standard of snooker is sure to be high.

The second Sunday will see Wallace take on young Jordan Shivers in the opening match in what will be a baptism of fire for the young Castledawson player. Former Northern Ireland Champion and ex-professional Dermot McGlinchey will also feature on the second Sunday. The local areas best hopes will rest with Brian Milne, Sean Doyle, Kieran Cassidy and Gerry McAuley. The final is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd November and everyone is welcome to attend.
