Killymoon golfer Bryan Martin equalled the course record with a fantastic round of 64 in the Draperstown Trophy.
Bryan, 28, is the club’s lowest handicapper and produced a scintillating round to equal Moyola Park pro Randal Evans’ score from eight years ago.
“I’ve hit 66 before but I’ve never threatened to get to 64 before now,” the Moneymore accountant told the Mail.
“I started well with an eagle but it was just one of those days when everything came together for me.
“I think my birdie on the last hole was the best. I was six under after 15 and then had a bogey on 16. I had a good par on 17 when I went in a bunker, but the guys I was playing with, Kieran Hughes and Paul Wilson, kept me going.”
A hole in one the week before is record-equalling feat started what turned out to be a great few days at the course, but Bryan is after more:
“I’m hoping the record will stand for a good long time, but believe me, I’ll be back out on Saturday trying to beat it!”
