ORGANISERS are hoping the Craig Memorial North West Cup final will go ahead on Saturday despite last night’s heavy rain at flood prone Fortwilliam Park in Tobermore.
The match between Moyola Park and Coleraine Reserves was called off on Boxing Day morning because of a frozen pitch.
Both teams expressed a willingness to wait for an hour to see if conditions improved, but the referee ruled it out for health and safety reasons.
Dozens of disappointed fans were turned away.
The Castledawson outfit are bidding for a seventh title moving them clear of Tobermore United and Limavady United to make them the competition’s most successful club.
But Johnny Law’s young Coleraine side have the potential to spoil the party.
The new kick off time is 1pm on Saturday at Fortwilliam Park.
