Nine local playerswin through to Masters Finals

THERE was no league action this week in the Craigavon District Darts League as it was the qualifiers for the Northern Ireland Masters which are being held in Belfast in March.

There were nine qualifying spots available for this tournament which sees all the best players from Northern Ireland compete and after a great night of darts the nine men who will represent the local league are Sam Frazer, Rab Lewis, Michael Lamb, Tommy McErlean, Dee Breen, Paddy Magill, Shane Lennon, Hugh Heaney and Terry Morrow.

The committee and members of the league would like to wish the players all the best.

On Saturday the League’s Inter Area county team travelled to Lisburn to take on Area 5 and after a disappointing day Area 11 suffered their second loss of the season when they were on the wrong end of a 9-3 scoreline. The three winners were Adrian Hutchinson who had a 3-1 win which included legs of 14 and 15 darts with a 26 Average, Dave McCusker and Sam Frazer.

This Thursday see’s a return to league action and the stand out fixture is undoubtedly the current top two in the league Celtic v Drumgor. The Celtic Club last season was the last place that Drumgor suffered defeat in the league and a win here would see them take a massive step to retaining their title.

Other fixtures this week see Premier hosting the Stables, Clann Eireann home to Eire Og and the INF hosting the Trojans.
