The young boxer won his Ulster Final today in Raphoe, Donegal and now moves forward to the Irish Nationals, maintaining the club’s good record in these championships.

Charles once again showed his class clearly winning on all the judges score cards.

From the first to the last round McDonagh took command of the centre of the ring and boxed a very clever fight to clearly win.

Charles will now go forward to box in the Irish Youth Championships which will be Held in the National Stadium in Dublin over the coming weeks. Cookstown Boxing Club had two other fighters at the Ulster Youth Championships - Kian Quinn and Peter Cawley.

Young Kian Quinn boxed a good three rounds only to find himself on the wrong end of the decision going down on a points.

Peter Cawley had no luck when he came up against a very good boy and was beaten in what was a very close fight.

Next up for Cookstown Boxing Club will be the 11/12/13 years Mid-Ulster Championships and it is hoped to have a strong entry from the club.

In these Championships Seamus Maughan and young Charlie Mulligan look good bets to win here.

However, any one of the lads that will be entered can step up to the plate and win.
