Point produce shock of season against Saints

The Point pulled off the shock of the season in the Larne and District Snooker League with a fine 5-0 away win at champions St Comgall’s. J Boyle, Graham Ferguson (29,20), G McNeill, S Girvan and E Carson took their frames to put their team level points at the top.

Breathing down their necks are Latharna who sit two points behind in third, this despite losing 3-2 to Ballyclare Old Boys. Raymond Weir continued his good form with Jim Jackson winning the fifth. Tommy Hart, Darren Vennard and N Vennard all won for the visitors.

Carrick side Greenbank B defeated Linfield 3-2, thanks to successes from Cecil Scroggie, Stevie Nelson and William McNeeley. Ross McDowell and Raymond Forsythe won for the Blues.

Greenbank A lost again, this time at Ballyclare Golf Club B. Ian Wallace, Jim Taylor and Jim Crockard made sure for the golfers, with David Johnstone and Wayne Harper responding.

Carrick A won the derby match with their B team thanks to Ricky Bradley, Gavin Baker (52) and Stevie McLoughlin. Glenn Gibney and Colin Spence won their frames to keep the B team ahead of their club-mates in the league.

Q-Club recorded their fourth win of the season with a 3-2 success against St John’s. Neil McFaul, A. McAuley and C. Wilson won with Alex Robertson and Andy Reid replying for the visitors.

Pairs Final: Gavin Baker and Ricky Bradley from Carrick Golf Club will meet Ballyclare Golf Club players Darren Agnew and Trevor Mairs in a best-of-three frames match at Latharna Club on February 12 at 7:30pm.
