Quinn wins Cookstown Snooker league

THE Cookstown Snooker League has drawn to an end with the clash of Micky Quinn and Brian Milne to decide this seasons league winner.

This contest was played in Pot Black which was to Micky’s advantage but that didn’t upset the Magherafelt player as he approached the table.

Both players were trying hard and after three very close frames Micky took the lead at 2-1.

In the final frame of the night Brian took an early lead but Micky fought back with only the colours remaining, and then with only the black left it was safety all the way and Brian was trying hard as he would still be in with a chance if he got a draw for the league title, but alas it was not to be as Micky potted the black to win the match and the 2012 league title.

The Cookstown League are honoured to announce that Pot Black Snooker Club will be sponsoring the Cookstown Open Individual.

This season it will be held in the Pot Black Club and a special mention must be paid to Celestine Loughran for all the hard work he puts into the sport and also for kindly being the sponsor of the Individual.

The draw was made in Pot Black and the first round will be played on Sunday 11th March in Pot Black with the top half of the draw commencing at 6pm and the bottom four matches at 8.30pm. The draw is as follows:

John Hagan v Seamus Quinn

Declan Callan v Daniel McGuckin

Feargal Quinn v Paul McGuckin

Conor Gillespie v James Winters

Joe Loughran v Brian Milne

Thomas McCrea v Joe McGarrity

John Halferty v James Stirrup

Micky Quinn v Peter Reilly

Lastly, two young players aged 12 will be taking part and we all hope that Feargal Quinn and Daniel McGuckin will do well against their opponents over five frames in this their first ever Open Individual.
