Coleraine 0 Rainey 5

From the first whistle the Rainey 1st XI started strong and within a matter of minutes Kirsty McLarnon had passed a great ball into the circle where Nicole Heaney picked it up and placed the ball in the back of the net.

The pressure from Rainey was relentless resulting in a second goal from Heaney. Excellent passing between the defence and midfield then helped secure a brilliant strike from Rachel Burns.

The Coleraine keeper held firm until Heaney successfully got her third goal, resulting in a hatrick. Coleraine came out strong in the second half but the Rainey defence held firm, denying them any shots on goal.

Rainey was awarded a number of short corners and as a result of one of these Robyn Chambers placed a powerful shot pass the Coleraine keeper. The 5-0 win was another excellent league result and we look forward to the matches ahead.

Coleraine II 1 Rainey II 0

The Rainey 2nd XI travelled to Ballycastle to play Coleraine, in their third league match of the season.

The match started with Coleraine playing strong attacking plays which lead to a goal scored by Coleraine.

Rainey soon started to fight back with excellent runs from Sarah McClure, Diane Forsythe, Emma McClure and other forwards and midfields.

With super chances and great defence, Rainey managed to maintain possession and continue to have some attack right till the end of the match.

But no matter how hard Rainey tried, they just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. This resulted in a 1-0 defeat to Coleraine but the team can take heart that the Rainey 2nd XI also suffered the same result last year but went on to win the league. Match report by Megan Law.
