Enniskillen 1 Rainey RFHC 0

Rainey 1st XI travelled to Irvinestown on Saturday to play Enniskillen, aiming to get some much needed points in the league.

After the long journey and some refreshments Rainey started strong, with Maeve McNally in midfield distributing the ball well. Rainey had most of the attacking play and Lorraine Hyndman was unfortunate not to score, the team hit the post a few times (pity no points for that!). Some rough play nearly had a player sent off, but umpire Lee kept everything fair. In the second half Enniskillen scored from a well worked short corner and despite some good counter attacks, Rainey were unable to get the ball past the goalie, who had her work cut out for her.

Rachel Clarke made some good runs down the right wing to keep Rainey in with opportunity to bring the game back, and Jenna Bowman worked with Louise McMaster and Rosie Taylor to quash any further Enniskillen attack.

Player of the match(shared): Rachel Clarke,  Louise McMaster  & Karla Garvin!

Rainey 2nd XI 8 Greenisland 5th XI 0

The Rainey 2nd X1 had another successful match at home with an impressive 8-0 victory over Greenisland. Even with a few new players, Rainey gelled well as a team, and from the outset applied huge pressure on the Greenisland defence with early goals from Ciara McNally and Christine McClure.

Throughout the first half Rainey were excellent at moving the ball wide and there were great runs by the forwards to receive them. The only real threat from Greenisland came in the first half when they had two or three consecutive shots on goal.

But a strong Rainey defence and brilliant saves by Nicole Badger prevented Greenisland from getting on the score sheet. The first half ended 4-0 with two more spectacular goals from Christine. In the second half Rainey went from strength to strength with great tackling and maintenance of possession from Lindsay Morrissey and Babs Allen.

Nicole Brown and Zara Murphy were eventually rewarded with a goal each after several great shots on target. Well done to Rainey on a great win and to Ciara McNally who was voted Player of the Match.
