Seapark runners produce the goods

Seapark AC members have once again produced great results at a range of events over the weekend.

First up, the club was represented at Carrickfergus parkrun 5k on Saturday, May 10.

Bobbie Irvine finished in third position in a time of 19:53, Ian Clelland 20:52, Charlie McCormack 20:54, Karen Poag running her first parkrun event in 25:45, Neil Harper 27:06 (personal best) and Karen McMaster 32:06 (pb).

Sunday saw the inaugural running of the Strabane to Lifford Half-Marathon and 5k event. Seven Seapark members ran the half-marathon with a further six completing the 5k course.

In partnership with Lifford Athletic Club, the cross-border run attracted over 400 runners and saw runners complete an undulating course in hot conditions.

Results are as follows: Half-Marathon times: Bobbie Irvine 1:31:37, Gillian Cordner finished second lady in 1:35:24, Charlie McCormick 1:37:34 (pb), Gary Connolly 1:37:47, Karen Poag 1:55:51, Neill Harper 2:02:54 (pb) and Karen Waring 2:07:12.

5k course: Lynette Magill (26:51), Karen McMaster (32:02), Tony Barclay (34:59), Vivien Davidson (34:59), Ann McCracken (28:51) and Helena Perry (41:06).

A special mention goes to Tony Barclay and Helena Perry running their first official race well done!

At the Belfast City Marathon Bobbie Irvine ran 3:38:18, while Gillian Cordner crossed the line in 3:47:15. Charlie McCormack was close behind in 3:48:59.

Next to cross the line was Gillian Strudwick in 3:56:12, knocking an impressive 30 minutes off her time from last year.

She was followed by Gary Connolly 3:59:37 and Mark Welsh 3:59:32. Neil Harper took on his first marathon challenge and put in a super performance to cross the line in an impressive 4:51:21.
