Second half the Toon men came out guns blazing with 15 minutes of pressure on the Armagh 22 resulted in two penalities kicks which were slotted over by Nigel Nevin.

With the scoreline tight at 7-6 Armagh threw everything at a solid Ballymoney defence Armagh avalanche broke through for their second try leaving the score 12-6 in Armagh’s favour.

From the restart the Ballymoney pack crashed balls through the Armagh defence and great slick hands from the Ballmoney backs saw Jonny Linton to crash over in the corner to make it 12-11.

With full time looming it looked like Armagh were going to have the points but the never say die attitude from ‘the boys fray the Toon’ was rewarded with a penalty in the Armagh 22 which was coolly slotted over by Nigel Nevin to leave the score 14-12 in the visitors’ favour.

The final minutes were nerve racking with Armagh throwing everything forward but the solid defence from Ballymoney kept the home side at bay.

A spokesman for the team said: “A well deserved win for Ballymoney in Armagh was hard earned and we stepped up to the challenge as this was the homeside’s first defeat of the season, a credit to the whole team for this performance who played the second half with 14 men.

“This is a great result for us away from home and we have continued our great winning for from the last three weeks with big wins over Carrick, Enniskillen and Instionans. Man of the match goes to Nigel Nevin for an outstanding display.

Next week sees us back home entertaining a strong Omagh side.

“A big thank you to Mark Culbertson who came on board this year as manager and doing a fantastic job.”
