On Saturday the 1st of March, Spires CC (Magherafelt) will be holding their second annual Grand Prix road race with new race head quarters based in the Ballyronan Marina Centre.
The event will feature three separate races on the Ballyronan/ ‘three road ends’/ Loup circuit.
The event has already attracted a strong field including the top club riders from around the Provence with riders from Carn Wheelers, East Antrim Audi and East Tyrone CC all taking part. Participation of the riders from the Nicolas Roche Performance Team and the Dig Deep/ Inspired Cycling Team will only add to the quality of racing on the day.
Club chairman, Seamus Donnelly says “the event will be an exciting start to the racing season in the local area” and he is hoping that it will be the first of many successful events hosted by the club this year.
The club will be well represented on the day with both male and female competitors, under 23 riders and those eligible to race in the ulster veterans championships later in the year.
Racing will start at 12 noon in Ballyronan on the day, with the finish line located on the main Ballyronan to Magherafelt Road. The club would ask all motorists to take extra care when driving in the area and also to cooperate fully with marshals and the PSNI who will be in attendance.
The club would invite everyone to come along and watch what looks to be a great days racing.
