Cheered on by the large travelling support the visitors burst into a five point lead which they never lost.

Jamie Grant playing at full forward took a pass from Owen Kelly and got the scoreboard rolling with an excellent point. Eoin Henry was fouled and the ever reliable Alex Gallagher pointed the free. Alex followed up with a point when he ran onto a pass from Jamie Grant.

Glenavy’s full forward line of Owen Kelly, Jamie Grant and Thomas Gallagher were causing panic to their opposite numbers each time they gained possession. From the kick out Thomas Gallagher gained possession and with a perfect pass he gave his cousin Alex the opportunity to push his side further in front.

The visitors midfield pairing of team captain Dan McKavanagh and Ethan McGarry were in complete control with some high catching and passing were giving their forwards a frequent supply of the ball. Eoin Henry was fouled and he pointed the resultant free. Caoimhín McConnell pointed from a rare raid from the Crumlin side.

When Anto Brown pointed a free it looked like Aldergrove were fighting back. Eoin Henry steadied the Glenavy ship with a well taken point.

The visitors defence were now coming under severe pressure with Caolan Power, Ruairi Forester and Shane Cormican in the full back line making some daring blocks and clearances.

Matt McGready closed the gap to three. David McCann scored a beauty from an impossible angle.

The second half started with a point from Eoin Henry. Anthony Brown pulled one back with a pointed free quickly followed by a Caoimhín McConnell Point. Owen McCormack in the Glenavy goals had a steady game clearing up anything that came his way. Alex Gallagher scored a wonder goal, he went a jinking run past a helpless defence to score from an acute angle. Glenavy halfbacks Lorcan Small, Mathew Hamill and Liam Henry were getting the better of the St.James’ half forwards.

Eoin Henry, David McCann and Alex Gallagher were having the upper hand against the home sides defence. David McCann and Lorcan Heenan added to their sides total with two excellent points. Alex Gallagher rounded off a great night for him when Eoin Henry put him through for a goal. Lorcan Heenan and Thomas Gallagher finished the job with two well taken points. A word of praise for referee Fionntan McCotter for letting the players express themselves.
