St.Mary’s Rasharkin honoured with Gold Accreditation by Ulster Council

St.Mary’s GAC Rasharkin recently jointed an elite family within GAA clubs being awarded a Gold Club Maith Award.

It’s a tremendous honour to be considered for a Club Maith award especially Gold, Ulster Council Club and Community Development Officer Maura Kelly informed the South West club of their incredible Gold Accreditation.

Club Maith is a club accreditation scheme which is unique to the GAA, it allows clubs to be benchmarked against best practise standards across the full range of GAA Club activity. A Club Maith Award makes a clear proven statement about the quality of a club right across the board. Applications are scored on five categories – Governance, Duty of Care, Community Enhancement, Culture & Heritage, Coaching & Games Development, all of which St.Mary’s GAC have worked hard on and will continue to endeavour.

A club spokesman said, this is remarkable achievement for our Club, and indeed, sets Naomh Mhuire apart from most, however, these kind of awards are not handed out and do not arrive without much organisation, management, hard work and effort by alot of dedicated people. Obviously, there have been many club volunteers involved at various stages throughout this process, too many to mention individually - Congratulations and well done to everyone the concentrated efforts have reaped great rewards.

St.Mary’s Rasharkin Coaching and Development Officer Paddy Kelly has been short listed for this year’s Sports NI Coaching Awards. Sports clubs right across the boards up and down the country are indebted to volunteer’s who play an invaluable role in creating environments to guide and inspire life long participation and success in sport, it’s no surprise that Paddy finds himself honoured in such a way said a club spokesman. He continued, the well respected Level 3 coach, who’s dedication and commitment to promoting coaching and development is unquestionable, lead St.Mary’s into representing Antrim at last year’s Ulster GAA Presidents Awards for Coaching & Games Development.

Congratulations and Good Luck to Paddy, who has been nominated in two out of the eight categories namely Children’s Coach and Community Coach.
