AFTER a long trip and a delayed start to the match, Ballymoney started slowly with UCD dominating most of the possession in the opening quarter of the match.

Ballymoney then started to find their feet and were the dominant team in the second quarter.

Katie Mullan broke the deadlock on 22 minutes from a fine strike from Ballymoney's first short corner, after some good play down the right.

Goalkeeper Genna ensured Ballymoney finished the first half in the lead with a good save on 33 minutes.

UCD began to increase presure in the third quarter and found the equaliser from open play in the 42nd minute.

With both teams starting to up their game, players started to lose discipline and players from both sides were shown cards.

In the fourth quarter UCD tried a drag-flick from a penalty corner which was well saved by Genna.

UCD scored the winner halfway through the fourth quarter from open play. Ballymoney upped their game and came close to equalising from a short corner but were unable to find the equaliser.

After a high-paced, hard-fought match, Ballymoney will pick themselves up and use this match in their preparations for their next Premier League match.

The firsts have no match this weekend as the team will have three players missing due to representative honours in the U18 interpros. Good luck to Katie Mullan, Gayle Adams and Jenna Holmes as they play for Ulster in Dublin.
