Will lady luck every shine on the Moon?

Annagh United 4, Killymoon Rangers 2.

WILL Lady Luck ever shine on the moon? At 2-2 in the second half, Killymoon looked the most likely team to go on and win the match, but unfortunately ended up beaten again.

Manager Brian McGarry was again forced to make changes due to injuries, and unavailability, With Ferson, Brownlee, Scott, Young and McGaw all out, into the starting line up came, Dardis, Kilpatrick, Ferry, and Montgomery.

Annaghs had a half chance when Camlin shot wide, and Steven McElhatton had a free kick blocked in the first 10 minutes.

Manager was then forced to reshuffle the pack as Cameron Stewart went off with a bad back, and on came Daryl Shannon. Annagh were causing the Killymoon defence problems at corners and free kicks, but the small forward line of Ferguson and Montgomery were causing problems running at the Annagh defence.

W Montgomery had a run and shot over, before C Martin had a shot blocked. Gareth McElhatton saved an Annagh free kick, from the resulting clearance, Ferguson crossed for Montgomery whose shot was blocked. Gareth was called on to save a quickly taken free kick, and the rebound went over the bar.

Out of a harshly awarded free kick, Annagh took the lead, Murphy caused confusion in the box, and Darragh Peden, tapped in at the back post. Just before half time Killymoon were level, a good touch and turn by Craig Martin, played Willie Ferguson in, his cross was headed in by William Montgomery, a goal Killymoon richly deserved, and they almost took the lead a minute later, Daryl Shannons shot was saved and W Montgomery was unlucky with the follow up. HT 1-1

In the second half Conal Kilpatrick had a shot handled on the edge of the box, W Fergusons free kick was blocked as was Davy Mc Mullans follow up.

Annagh then broke, and Dardis conceded a free kick on the half way line. Murphy flicked on and Gardiner nipped in to give Annagh the lead. After a dangerous W Ferguson cross, Annagh had a strong appeal for a penalty waved away by referee Ally Burns. Shortly afterwards Montgomery was up ended in the box, and Steven McElhatton converted the spot kick to put Killymoon back on equal terms.

Killymoon then had a couple of corners and free kicks, and were looking the most likely team to go on and win the match. Alas, on 83 minutes a long throw in was saved by Gareth McElhatton, again Gardiner nipped in to score the rebound. Killymoon went in search of an equalizer, and were unlucky, when W Montgomerys shot in the 6 yard box was saved following a long throw in. In stoppage time, Dean Smith looking offside did not wait for the flag which did not come, rounded Gareth in the Killymoon goal, to seal the win for Annagh United. A good all round display from Killymoon who on this form are due a change of fortune.
