Climbing Knocklayde for charity
Two of the principal organisers, Ivan King and Robert Stewart, have joined forces with The Scenic Inn bar and restaurant near Armoy to plan the event which will be carried out on behalf of Stranocum teenager, Jade McAfee, who has suffered with a neurological disorder for most of her life.
All proceeds will go to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and it is hoped to raise thousands for the charity.

Ivan King said: “We have linked up with The Scenic because we know how good they are at getting support from the public. We have no doubt that this latest venture will be a big success particularly with their help.”
Participants are asked to gather at The Scenic at 9 a.m. on the day and arrangements have been made with a local landowner at Knocklayde to park vehicles.
Knocklayde looms about 1600 feet above Ballycastle and should prove a dawdle for those taking part.

Shirley McKinley of the Scenic has promised a barbecue for the walkers when they return, weather permitting, and, if not, it will be soup and sandwiches indoors.
Anyone who would like to take part in the climb should contact the Scenic on 028 207 51260 where more details will be given.
