A prosecuting lawyer said police went to defendant’s home regarding the damage to the car and he came out of his bedroom, shouting abuse at officers.

She said he refused to be taken to the police station and began shouting ‘Up the IRA’ and ‘Up the INLA’ .

As he was being placed in the police cell van, Reilly kicked out and struck an officer on the top of the thigh.

He later admitted to police that he had been drinking and ran and jumped on a white Kia.

Defence barrister Liam McStay told the court that there were two sides to the defendant and he had presented himself as a friendly and cooperative person to the Probation Officer.

Mr McStay said alcohol was very much the source of the incident and CCTV footage showed that Reilly was so intoxicated he was barely able to get off the ground.
