Video: Cash machine ripped out of wall in Donaghmore

LOCAL politicians have condemned the actions of those responsible for ripping a cash machine from a wall outside a Donaghmore filling station.

Detectives investigating the incident at Backford Stores on the Pomeroy Road overnight discovered a digger close to the scene.

Sinn Fein councillor for the area, Mickey Gillespie, described the incident as “deplorable” and said it would cause significant inconvenience to business owners and members of the local community who depended on the service.

Cllr Jim Cavanagh of the SDLP said: “This is a dreadful thing to have happened. This lawlessness has to be combated, not just by the police but the entire community.

“I am appealing to anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact police so these criminals can be brought to justice.”
